Hello Brothers and Sisters of the OLF!!!

I am considering putting together a small relief fund to help out with the extra expenses due to the rough weather for BobC and his lovely wife Rosie.
If anyone is interested please let me know or send what you can and I will see to it that he receives it in style and with sincere respect that he deserves. Any amount will do! The amounts will not be revealed, just the fact that we helped out when he needed it makes all the differnce!

Let me know!

Send what you can to: Walter Kiralla

Very thoughtful idea Walt!
Might I suggest anyone that would like to send Bob a few bucks, simply send it directly to him via his paypal acct?
This would seem much quicker and less complicated IMHO .

Walter your thoughtfullness is very much appreciated. However I couldn't accept any donations from my OLF bro's.
Orders will be gratefully accepted. Thanks again Walter. It's great to see you back.

From what John Mayes told me, the european spruces are the same specie
and the region effects stiffness, Italian being the stiffest (and I got my
Italian from Bob).

Hesh, I'm just working on one of Luigi's Italian tops and it is SO STIFF that I think it will end up so thin you will be able to see through it. I've got Swiss, German, Austrian and Roumanian spruce in my stash and this Italian stuff is as good as any I've used. So if Bob has some Italian.....

Colin

PS I'm getting more!

That's what all the Italian girls say anyway

Euro spruce is euro spruce be it German, Swiss, Italian Carpathian, Irish (well maybe not ) etc, etc. The stiffness comes from the tree and the expertise of the harvester (kudos Luigi).

Actually Russell told me once that the violin builders refer to it as Swiss spruce as a generic term - doesn't mean it grew in Switzerland.

I once started a "fun" description of the Euro variants:

German - has a tendency to invade the back and sides
Italian - tends to retreat under a heavy attack
Swiss - strictly neutral
Belgian - rich chocolatey tones
English - cold and reserved
Transylvanian - works best with a garlic finish

Bob - glad you made it through the snow OK. Will you be baking some of those tops now Dave White39007.6579398148

Hesh don't believe those people from Europe. Their spruce is Sitka in disguise.
Of course I'm just kidding. Let me take a look to see what I have and I'll PM you.

Thanks again to Walter and all the well wishers..

Hesh...I am quite impressed with the tone of the Zootman Carpathian top I used on the OLF-SJ I recently completed. It had a luscious tap from the beginning and performs as well in the finished state.
